We are seeking an experienced Machine Operator with hands-on mechanical skills to join our client's team on a fulltime casual basis. This role suits someone who's confident running plant and machinery in a production environment and has mechanical trade skills for steel sample preparation such as using an oxy torch, grinding and cutting. You will be experienced in carefully following procedures and in the use of industrial machinery & equipment and work safely and efficiently every shift. Mon - Fri dayshift.
Key Responsibilities
* Collect and prepare large steel samples from across a large heavy industrial site.
* Prepare samples for testing, using hands-on and mechanical equipment such as oxy cutting, grinding, shearing etc.
* Operate, monitor and adjust plant and machinery to maintain steady production output.
* Carry out routine cleaning and basic maintenance tasks to keep equipment running reliably.
* Perform manual handling and general labouring duties as required.
* Maintain strong housekeeping standards and follow site procedures and safety requirements at all times.
You
* Mechanical skills, a recognised trade certificate is desirable (e.g., Mechanical, Fitter/Turner, Boilermaker, or similar).
* Proven experience operating machinery/plant in a production, manufacturing, quarry, recycling, construction, or similar environment.
* Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
* Reliable work ethic, punctuality, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Clear communication skills and willingness to learn site-specific processes.
