Primary objective
Provide specialist advice and support on corporate communications and marketing, including event and sponsorship management.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Develop, implement, manage and evaluate targeted marketing and communications strategies, projects and activities to
promote Departmental priorities and initiatives.
2. Research and develop communications strategies that utilise innovative and contemporary communication tools and
techniques, including planning and logistics, resource allocation, and consideration of media, political and stakeholder
implications consistent with the objectives, strategic directions and priorities of the Department.
1. Project manage events and sponsorship activities for the Department and ensure all material is delivered within timelines,
budgetary constraints and procurement guidelines.
1. Prepare and produce Departmental communication and marketing materials, including website content and design
development.
1. Cultivate effective working relationships and collaborative partnerships with a wide range of private and public sector
stakeholders, including to support effective advocacy and achievement of Departmental outcomes.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Ability to provide specialist advice and support on corporate communications, marketing, web content, media (including social
media), event and sponsorship management.
2. Proven skills in communications and marketing project coordination/management and evaluation, including managing political
and stakeholder implications with effective and timely outcomes.
3. Proven skills in events and sponsorship coordination/management and evaluation.
4. Proven skills in a range of computer applications including word processing, graphic and desktop publishing software, e-mail
database platforms, presentation software and online marketing tools together with high level expertise in developing and
maintaining websites.
1. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work constructively in a project team and work collaboratively with a
diverse range of stakeholders.
1. High level writing and composing skills, with the ability to articulate a message to a diverse audience with consideration of
political and stakeholder implications.
1. Proven ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships and strategic alliances with Departmental groups, external
agencies, non-government organisations, community/local government, and industry groups and individuals.
1. Good practical, contemporary knowledge of the broader strategic communication and marketing industry, including evolving
digital trends, applications and platforms.
Desirable
Relevant tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications or other relevant disciplines.
