Physical and Outdoor Education Assistant

0.6 FTE | Commences 4th May, or as negotiated

Founded in 1983, Swan Christian College is a co-educational Christian school in Swan Valley, educating around 1,600 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. The College focuses on developing character and academic excellence with Christ-centred education that nurtures the spiritual, academic, emotional, and social growth of every student.

We are seeking a passionate and supportive Physical and Outdoor Education Assistant to join our team in a part-time (0.6 FTE), ongoing position commencing on 4th May, or as negotiated. In this role, the successful candidate will support students in their learning; encouraging participation, confidence, and personal growth within a safe and supportive Christ-centred environment. You will assist in delivering engaging physical and outdoor education programs, promoting teamwork, wellbeing, and lifelong healthy habits.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop an understanding of Christian education principles and actively contribute to College life.
* Support teaching staff and work collaboratively within the team.
* Communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues.
* Assist with camps, excursions, and practical Physical and Outdoor Education classes.
* Manage equipment, bookings, maintenance, and stock control.
* Follow WHS procedures and undertake other duties as required.

Selection Criteria

* Demonstrates a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and active involvement in a Christian church.
* Lives in alignment with SCEA's Statement of Faith, Foundational Beliefs, and Educational Objectives.
* Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with families, staff, and the wider community.
* Communicate effectively with students and adults, demonstrating professionalism and acting as a positive role model.
* Work collaboratively as part of a team, with sound computer skills and a commitment to quality engagement.
* Holds a current Working with Children card, and Department of Education Criminal History Check, or willingness to apply.

Desirable Selection Criteria

* A keen interest to work with young people and be able to lead young people in a variety of environments in a mature fashion acting as a strong role model.
* Show initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision.
* Ability to prioritise workload.
* Willing to work towards Bronze Medallion, Senior First Aid and other qualifications determined by the Health of Health and Physical Education.
