UGL Utilities Operations & Maintenance business is a trusted provider of essential services across power, water, and gas sectors. With a strong reputation and long-standing contracts in power distribution, transmission, and water operations and maintenance, we are poised for significant growth.


About the role

The Program Manager is responsible for controlling the Victoria programs to ensure that the program meets contractual requirements, remains commercially viable, is adequately resourced and that work is completed in a safe and timely manner.

This role will be based in our Tullamarine depot.

Key responsibilities

* Actively promote and embed UGL's "One HSE Culture" within the team, regularly conduct Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) inspections to ensure compliance and maintain a safe work environment. Ensure timely completion of incident investigations and actions.

* Prioritise, manage, and oversee overhead and underground construction and maintenance operations within the Victorian Electricity Supply Industry's (VESI) distribution and sub-transmission sectors, adhering to health, safety, quality, cost, and performance standards.

* Lead and facilitate team meetings to address project concerns, provide updates, and cultivate a culture of open communication and trust within the team.

* Effectively manage plant operations to achieve optimal productivity and equipment utilisation.

* Monitor and report on the physical and financial progress of projects. Ensure efficient use of resources, materials, and subcontracted services in line with company objectives.

* Develop and implement strategies to comply with environmental license conditions, mitigate environmental risks, and support clients in meeting their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives.

* Manage Industrial Relations, including liaising with the Electrical Trades Union (ETU), handling human resources and industrial relations issues, dispute management.

* Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, employees, contractors, and regulatory bodies. Develop key account management plans for contracts exceeding $20M per annum.

* Lead, mentor, and support the professional development of the team of Lineworkers, fostering teamwork and group cohesion.

* Promote innovative construction methods and standardise project control strategies.

* Maintain a competitive edge by enhancing recruitment efficiency, increasing staff retention, developing top talent, and expanding market share in the Utilities Operation & Maintenance (O&M) sector.

About You

* Minimum 15 years of experience in the VESI, including 5 years in a management role such as Site Manager, Foreman, Supervisor, or Leading Hand.

* Experience leading a team of Lineworkers, including Live Line Glove & Barrier works.

* Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Environmental legislation, Codes of Practice, and Standards relevant to the VESI.

* Ability to interpret technical drawings and network line diagrams.

* A valid drivers license and white card
