**Eligibility**
- To be eligible for employment with the Department of Health and Aged Care

applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time an offer of employment is made

- Satisfactory completion of an Australian Federal Police criminal history check,

and where relevant a Working with Children and Vulnerable People Check.

**Division Responsibilities**

Health Workforce Division aims to improve the capacity, quality, distribution and mix of the

health workforce to meet the needs of the Australian health system, by developing

evidence-based advice and recommendations to Government. The Division is committed to

implementing effective health workforce policies and programs that complement State and

Territory Government efforts, in collaboration with health professionals and health service

delivery organisations

**Branch Responsibilities**

Rural Access Branch aims to improve access to health services in rural areas, through

outreach programs and workforce distribution strategies, including Medicare access for

overseas-trained doctors, effective rural and workforce shortage classification systems, and

scholarship, locum, and rural recruitment support programs.

**Key Responsibilities**

Responsibilities of the program officer include:

- Policies and procedures - follow program policies and procedures and support the

development of program change initiatives.
- Stakeholder relationships - respond to program enquiries and support positive

relationships with operational partners (e.g. Services Australia).
- Data - support the accurate collection and reporting of program data.
