Position OverviewWe are looking for a proactive and skilled Maintenance Handyperson to join the dynamic team at voco and Hotel Indigo Brisbane City Centre. As a Maintenance Handyperson, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our guests enjoy an exceptional experience, while demonstrating your leadership and expertise to support your colleagues. This is why we encourage you to bring your passion and dedication to the role and embrace our core values of Passion, Accountability, Integrity, and Respect.Core Responsibilities:Assist the Maintenance Manager in identifying system faults and ensure that a robust preventative maintenance program is in place and meets compliance standards.Conduct daily lighting checks to ensure optimal functionality.Maintain the guest swimming pool to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.Clean and maintain hard-to-access areas (ceilings, light fittings, air-conditioning filters).Perform regular checks and servicing on high-use and breakable features in guest rooms (e.g., doors, window openers, TV remote sensors, shower screens).Perform touch-up painting in guest rooms as needed.Respond to maintenance requests within 30 minutes, ensuring any delays are promptly communicated to the Manager on Duty.Complete urgent repairs in guest rooms as required, ensuring rooms are brought back into service as quickly as possible.Maintain accurate records by completing and filing job sheets on all work carried out in guest rooms.Ensure the workshop is well-maintained, clean, and safe.Maintain par stocks of frequently used room items (e.g., taps, door handles, locks).Provide feedback and suggestions on ways to improve current systems and procedures.Carry out minor repairs in building structures, including tiling or plumbing as directed.Ensure plant rooms are cleaned, maintained, and operating correctly.Actively seek out cost-saving measures and recycling opportunities.Ensure safety procedures are followed, promoting a safe working environment.Properly manage flamable materials, adhering to OSHA and EPA containment standards.Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance tasks.Carry and maintain tools, equipment (keys, phones, radios, etc.) to ensure you are always prepared for work tasks.Report serious maintenance issues, safety hazards, or unusual findings to the Manager/Supervisor immediately.Inspect and maintain machinery, troubleshooting and repairing defective systems or components.Comply with the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedules and procedures.Ensure preventive maintenance is continuously running and tasks are scheduled appropriately.Manage waste disposal and grease trap maintenance efficiently.Liaise with engineering and contractors, ensuring compliance with Fire/Life and Safety procedures.Ensure all contractors are properly inducted to site, with required documentation provided before commencing any work.Keep contractor records up to date, managing expiry dates for certifications and licenses.Foster good working relationships with contractors and external partners.Support Risk Compliance and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.Key Requirements:Proven experience in a maintenance role within the hospitality or similar industry.Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, painting, and tiling.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to react quickly and effectively to maintenance issues.Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.High standards of cleanliness and safety, with the ability to maintain a safe working environment.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with colleagues, contractors, and management effectively.A passion for delivering excellent guest experiences.Why Join Us?At voco and Hotel Indigo Brisbane City Centre, we believe in offering our team members not just a job, but a fulfilling career.
