An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and knowledgeable Fleet Controller to join our team at Bairnsdale. Reporting to the Depot Manager, the core function of your role is to effectively co-ordinate and manage a fleet of single and b-double trucks within Victoria and NSW.
This position is dayshift commencing at 6am and offered on a rotating roster of four days on four days off, shared with another employee. We offer an excellent salary package with the option of a company supplied vehicle.
Your responsibilities
- Scheduling all vehicles in a safe and efficient manner
- Ensuring all loading and delivery windows are met
- Coaching, mentoring and managing the performance of drivers and delivery schedules
- Promoting a safety culture
- Adherence to all legislative and chain of responsibility requirements
- Encourage a great working culture that reports on issues relating to service failure, loss or damages
- Liaising with the Depot Manager to facilitate continuous improvement
- Daily reporting
- Loading/unloading of required freight
Requirements
- Previous supervisory experience in a Transport, Distribution or 3PL environment.
- Strong people and relationship building skills.
- Sound knowledge of Melbourne Metropolitan area and eastern Victoria.
- Effective management and leadership skills.
- The ability to adopt, implement and follow work procedures.
- Outstanding problem solving skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A hands on approach.
- A degree of flexibility with work rosters.
- Current HR, HC or MC licences.
- Ability to work unattended when required.
