Learn how a merit list or pool may be used
Applicants suitable for the role but not offered the position for the current vacancy, may be placed in a merit list or pool. If the applicant agrees, the results may be shared with other Australian Public Service (APS) agencies for filling similar roles. Applicants may be offered a future role, without the need to reapply. A merit list or pool may be used for up to 18 months.
This merit list or pool may be used to fill other vacancies anywhere in Australia.

The Regulatory Policy and Strategy (RPS) Branch consists of six teams responsible for the integrity of Child Care Subsidy payments, including policy and advice to Government on integrity, education and engagement with the child care sector, internal reviews, data analysis and intelligence.
The Intelligence Analytics Section sources and analyses childcare and related data to detect high-risk behaviours, identify operational targets for investigations and compliance activities, and inform and deliver operational data and intelligence support.

In the APS Level 6 Senior Data Analyst role, your responsibilities will include the following:
- Leading integrity outcomes in the early childhood and child care program through data analysis techniques and various programming languages (SQL, SAS or similar).
- Proficient use of programming language like SAS, SQL, or similar tools and technologies for data extraction and manipulation.
- Extracting and integrating data from a variety of sources to maintain a range of reports and analytics products for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Developing rules-based detection profiles to identify patterns related to high-risk behaviours and provide targets for compliance and fraud activity.
- Developing quality reports and indicators through understanding policy, legislative requirements, and system design for integrity activities.
- Providing administrative support regarding data systems and systems related issues, including the development and use of training and support materials for end users.
- Participating in a collaborative team environment based on supportiveness, development, knowledge sharing and effective communication.
- Cultivating constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
In the Executive Level 1 Principal Data Analyst role, your responsibilities will include the following:
- Providing technical support and advice to uplift the RPS Branch's data analytics and exchange capabilities.
- Integrating data into existing departmental platforms to ensure timely, accurate, and accessible information.
- Embedding quality and safety indicators into prioritisation frameworks to enhance the department's ability to identify and respond to high-risk services.
- Maintaining and managing a data framework that provides partner agencies and stakeholders with timely and accurate data.
- Proficient use of programming language like SAS, SQL, or similar tools and technologies for data extraction and manipulation.
- Managing ad-hoc requests and disclosures of data and related information to partner agencies.
- Providing user and business support for data systems, including the development and delivery of training and support materials for end users.
- Building and sustaining effective working relations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Providing progress reports and complex insights to stakeholders.
- Leading and supporting other team staff as required.
