Technical Planning Engineer – Hebel (CSR) – Somersby

At CSR, we're building a better future together.

We are a team of 2,600 people across Australia and New Zealand, and we are all collaborating every single day towards a shared purpose - 'Building solutions for a better future'. As a leading Australian Manufacturing business, we're at the forefront of developing innovative, sustainable, and high performing building products and systems.

At CSR, we put people first. We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, supportive, and inclusive working environment that enables everyone to feel valued, grow and truly thrive. We are committed to providing equal opportunity for everyone and welcoming people of all backgrounds, identities, experiences, abilities, and life stage.

About The Role

Be the technical linchpin between design, production and customer solutions.

At Hebel, part of CSR's trusted portfolio of building products, we're known for delivering high-performance autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) to commercial, industrial, and residential projects across Australia. We're growing our custom and made-to-order product capability – and this newly reshaped Technical Planning Engineer role is critical to our success.

We're on the hunt for an engineer or experienced draftsperson who can confidently sit at the intersection of sales, design, technical, and manufacturing teams. If you're passionate about design translation, shop floor problem-solving, and working in a practical, fast-moving environment — this is your chance to help shape a more tailored future for Hebel.

What You'll Be Doing
* Be the key technical lead for custom and made-to-order panels – from initial sales order to factory delivery.
* Create and manage CAD drawings and production-ready designs for non-standard and patterned products.
* Use in-house tools (e.g. Hebel Designer) to import and prepare orders for manufacture.
* Liaise closely with the engineering team to ensure all designs are compliant and "fit for purpose".
* Interface with customer service, production planners, factory operators, and the CSR tech team to keep projects moving.
* Apply lean principles and continuous improvement to our custom design process.
* Troubleshoot and resolve technical queries from the shop floor with confidence.
* Keep stakeholders in the loop at all stages of the process.

What You'll Bring
* A Diploma or Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering OR significant experience as a structural/technical draftsperson.
* Strong AutoCAD skills and the ability to read and interpret detailed construction drawings.
* 2–5 years' experience in a technical or engineering environment – ideally within manufacturing, building materials, or industrial design.
* Good planning discipline and the ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
* Clear communication style – you can explain complex designs to non-technical audiences.
* A "can-do" attitude, excellent attention to detail, and confidence working both independently and in a cross-functional team.

Nice To Have
* Experience with SAP or similar systems.
* Familiarity with wall/floor systems
* Exposure to production environments and lean manufacturing principles.

What's in it for you?
* Full-time, permanent role with strong career development pathways.
* Be part of a tight-knit, collaborative team that works across customer service, sales, and factory operations.
* Make a real impact on how we deliver tailored Hebel solutions to market.
* Site-based role at our Somersby manufacturing facility – enjoy the Central Coast lifestyle without the Sydney commute.
* Rewarding career with on-the-job learning, development, and upskilling opportunities within and across our brands
* Supportive and collaborative culture that fosters innovation and inclusion. You'll be surrounded by talented colleagues who are passionate about their work and committed to helping each other succeed.
* Care and wellbeing offer includes up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave, 52 weeks of superannuation payment, and access to an employee assistance program.
