Senior Database Administrator
* Start Date: ASAP
* Contract Length: 5 months contract with possible extension
* Location: Brisbane
Key Responsibilities
* Support the successful migration of database workloads associated with the project to Azure SQL Managed Instance
* Stabilise and optimise cloud-hosted database environments following migration activities
* Implement controlled database deployment and release processes using CI/CD and source control practices, including YAML-based deployment pipelines
* Deliver ongoing BAU database administration services to maintain system availability, performance, and reliability
* Manage database schema changes and deployments across development, test, and production environments
* Monitor, tune, secure, and maintain enterprise SQL Server and Azure database environments
* Support backup, recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities
Required Skills & Experience
* Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft SQL Server and Azure database platforms in enterprise environments
* Proven experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance deployments, migrations, and post-migration support
* Strong expertise in database backup, recovery, performance tuning, monitoring, and high availability practices
* Experience implementing and supporting database CI/CD and source control processes, including YAML-based deployment pipelines
* Strong Transactional SQL (T‐SQL) programming and scripting skills
* Experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence technologies including:
o SSRS
o SSAS
o SSIS
* Knowledge of database security principles and operational governance practices
* Experience with SQL Server clustering, log shipping, and disaster recovery planning across on‐premises and cloud environments
