The Role
As a Senior Project Officer - Aboriginal Programs, you will develop a range of initiatives to support Aboriginal Victorians to participate in sport and active recreation opportunities and support the Aboriginal Programs team, Aboriginal community organisations, community members, sport and recreation sector organisations, internally across Sport and Recreation Victoria, and across government departments and other key stakeholders to improve access and participation outcomes in sport and recreation activities for Aboriginal communities across Victoria.
The role requires strong leadership, strong stakeholder management and project management skills, highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, a strong policy and strategic mind, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and a flair for innovation.
Key accountabilities include :
- Provide strong leadership and support to the Aboriginal Programs team to achieve increased access to and maximise participation outcomes of Aboriginal communities through sport and active recreation.
- Strategically lead and project manage the effective delivery of sport and recreation, Aboriginal policy initiatives, programs and projects, including monitoring and evaluation to deliver better outcomes for Aboriginal Victorians.
- Provide authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed reports, ministerial briefs, ministerial correspondence and event briefs, contribute to cabinet and agency submissions on complex matters and communicate issues and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
- Engage, initiate, build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach with Aboriginal community, government and representatives of the Victorian community sport and recreation sector to support the delivery of agreed programs and projects.
- Provide up to date and relevant information to Senior Leaders in the Community Sport portfolio in relation to Treaty and other Whole of Victorian Government initiatives and strategies related to Aboriginal Victorians.
The Team
The position of the Senior Project Officer - Aboriginal Programs will work across Sport and Recreation Victoria branch, which sits within Sport and Experience Economy group.
Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) is comprised of Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV), Tourism and Events (T&E;) and Outdoor Recreation and Combat Sports (ORCS).
About You
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:
