The Australian and Queensland governments have jointly committed to reducing crash severity and frequency, particularly between Gympie and Cairns, through measures such as wide centre line treatments, audio tactile line marking, intersection upgrades, rest areas, pavement strengthening, overtaking lanes, and upgrades to narrow structures.
This initiative aims to build on over AUD 6 billion in planned investment under the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) 2024-25 to 2027-28. Project prioritisation will be guided by the Bruce Highway Advisory Council and both levels of government, with a corridor-wide fatigue management strategy informing rest area and stopping place upgrades.

The Role:
In this role, you will lead a team of professionals in planning and implementing effective communication and project engagement activities to ensure the efficient delivery of transport infrastructure programs.
You will lead the provision of strategic communication services to senior management of the Region, technical and professional staff for community engagement, media relations, issues management, public affairs and stakeholder relationship management.
Accountabilities Include:
* Lead and drive a team of communication and project engagement professionals in researching, developing, delivering and reporting on effective strategies to engage and/or inform the community in relation to the delivery of transport infrastructure programs.
* Initiate and build effective relationships with internal and external key stakeholders including service providers, members of the public and different levels of government to ensure that transport infrastructure outcomes are delivered.
* Develop the strategy and operational plan for the communication and project engagement teams and monitor and report on all transport infrastructure program activity and results.
* Support the Regional Director, Leadership and Project teams within the region and manage and lead a team of communications professionals to deliver program and project outcomes outlined in the transport infrastructure plans.
* Provide high level strategic communication advice, recommendations and options to the Regional Director, Leadership team and Project Directors/Managers on transport infrastructure projects.
* Provide leadership and proactively manage and supervise a high performance team in a regional environment by fostering ethical behaviour and decision making.
