Lava Lava Cafe, Magnetic Island is seeking an experienced and passionate Pastry Chef to join our dedicated team. Located right by the beach on beautiful Magnetic Island, we pride ourselves on serving exceptional coffee and delicious, high-quality baked goods made from seasonal, fresh ingredients. The Role
You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the cafe's pastry and baking production. This includes menu development, production management, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and consistency are met daily. Our menu features both classic and contemporary items, with a strong focus on accommodating gluten-free and vegan dietary requirements.
Key Requirements and Skills
We are looking for a candidate who is highly reliable, creative, and ready to embrace the challenges of island life:
* Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a commercial baker or pastry chef.
* Commitment: Ability to commit to a minimum of 6 months on Magnetic Island.
* Work Style: A genuine team player who is also highly effective at working autonomously and managing their own production schedule.
* Self-Management: Proven ability to self-manage time, inventory, ordering, and production quality with minimal supervision.
* Creativity: Demonstrated creative flair in developing new recipes and presenting attractive, high-quality finished products.
* Specialty Knowledge: Experience developing and executing gluten-free and vegan baked goods is highly regarded.
