Orontide is a leading Western Australian company providing specialist engineering, fabrication, preservation, and integrity maintenance services to the Oil & Gas, Mining, Naval Defence, Marine and Commercial Industries.
As a result of the company's continued growth, an excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced and motivated Planner/Estimator with a strong Mechanical or Machining background within a workshop environment to join our Engineering Services Business Unit.
Duties and responsibilities include:
* Prepare accurate cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, and scope of work
* Analyse subcontractor and vendor quotations for inclusion in estimates
* Identify risks, exclusions, and assumptions in scope of work submissions
* Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) and material take-offs from engineering drawings
* Maintain accurate records of all estimates, revisions, and awarded contracts
* Develop and maintain detailed production schedules to meet project deadlines
* Assisting in preparation and submission of tender documentation
* Work closely with the Engineering/Design team to understand project requirements
To be successful for this position, you must possess the following:
* Australian Recognised Trade Qualification Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Machining) or equivalent
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a fitting/machining or precision engineering environment
* Minimum 2–3 years' experience in estimating and/or production planning
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
* Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite
* Project Management
* Competency in reading designs and drawings
* Analytical, Numerical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
* Team-oriented with the ability to work autonomously
* Customer-focused approach
* Commitment to safety and quality
* Strong mathematical skills required to conduct various calculations from drawings and specifications to generate quotations.
* Having sound financial acumen would be highly regarded.
