Barwon Heads Hotel Torquay Hotel is looking for an experienced Demi Chef who will be required to perform general or specialised cooking, butchering, baking or pastry cooking duties and/or supervise and trains other cooks and kitchen employees. The potential for career development Remuneration: Annual salary range on offer: $75,000 to $81,000 plus super Task & responsibilities Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in supervising junior cooks and kitchen staff, including task allocation and on-the-job training Support kitchen operations including stock rotation, stock control and ordering from approved suppliers under management direction Assist in the training and development of apprentice cooks Perform specialised cooking duties across assigned sections of the kitchen Maintain a clean, safe and sanitised workstation in accordance with food safety standards Follow kitchen standard operating procedures at all times Supervise and provide guidance to cooks of a lower grade during service Monitor compliance with standard operating procedures and escalate issues to the responsible manager when required Actively provide suggestions and feedback to senior kitchen management Comply with all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures Immediately report unsafe practices or incidents to the manager on duty Adhere to all company policies and procedures at all times Qualification & experience Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Diploma in Hospitality Minimum 1.5 years of post-qualification experience in a similar role Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced kitchen environment Previous experience supervising or supporting junior kitchen staff Proven experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced commercial kitchen Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, and the ability to follow instructions Ability to work effectively as part of a team Demonstrates clear and effective communication skills Strong passion for the hospitality industry About Company Torquay Hotel is part of three local hotels owned by the ‘Taylor Group’ thus providing an opportunity to work and progress your career across venues and kitchens including the Barwon Heads Hotel and Grovedale Hotel in Victoria.
