Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Process Engineer to join our team in Melbourne on a 12 month contract.
Reporting into the Lead Process Engineer, this role will provide process engineering support as part of proficiently developing safe process plant designs and providing subject matter expertise for EPC projects.

1. Process Basis of Design
2. Philosophy documentation
3. Process Flow Diagrams
4. Process Safety Diagrams
5. Material Selection Diagrams
6. P&IDs
7. Heat and Material Balances
8. Cause and Effects
9. Alarm and Trip Schedules
10. Line Lists
11. Process Calculations - Line Sizing, PSV Sizing, Control Valves, Pumps, Drums, Heat Exchangers, Cooler/Condenser, Cooling Water System, Nitrogen blanket and Tank level settings
12. Process Datasheets - Control Valves, Pumps, Drums, Heat Exchangers, compressors, driers, PSV Sizing
Typical attendance would be expected for the following workshops:
13. Design Review (including Constructability Review)
14. HAZOP
15. HAZID
16. LOPA / SIL review
17. Plot Plan review
Accountabilities
18. Supporting the Lead Process Engineer in the delivery of process engineering deliverables
19. Excellent knowledge of safety regulations and applicable industry codes / standards
20. Excellent standard of written and oral communication
21. Highly proficient analytical and numerical skills
22. Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment
23. Demonstrated experience in supporting and checking the work of junior engineers.
24. A “solutions mindset” and able to manage varying tasks with often changing and competing priorities
25. Suitably qualified with a Bachelor of Engineering degree from a recognised institution, ideally you will have relevant experience in safety engineering for petroleum production / processing facilities within Australia and preferably on brownfields projects
26. At least 12 years’ experience in formal safety assessment studies, risk-based decision-making and the design/specification of safety critical equipment and systems
27. Intellectually capable, can substantiate the ability to apply theory in a practical context
28. Risk Facilitator skills for HAZOP or LOPA/SIL workshops highly desirable
29. Professional demeanor, strong interpersonal skills
30. Able to demonstrate team building skills and capable of influencing people at all levels of the organisation
31. Enthusiastic, conscientious, and keen to learn
32. Flexible with a can-do attitude
