Primary Objective
Preventative maintenance of plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and manuals with a focus on maintaining safety, quality and maximising production.
Resolve operational or technical equipment problems to minimise processing/manufacturing interruptions resulting from equipment breakdowns/failures.
Commitment to Zero Harm philosophy.
Work as a member of the Mechanical Maintenance team, including contributing to a positive team environment and supporting the training and development of apprentices.
Hazeldene's is committed to providing appropriate training and support to all of its employees. The incumbent will actively participate in all training and/or to facilitate training to ensure all maintenance employees are equipped with the relevant skills to reach performance objectives as outlined in this Position Description.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct preventative maintenance on plant and equipment, adhering to manufacturer recommendations to ensure safety, product quality, and production efficiency.
* Plan, schedule, and organize tasks independently, coordinating with other team members as necessary.
* Execute emergency work orders promptly and provide troubleshooting expertise to minimize downtime.
* Fit and assemble fabricated metal parts and subassemblies, ensuring accuracy and proper fit using precision measuring instruments.
* Set up and operate machining tools, including cutting, grinding, and drilling, to form metal stock and castings to fine tolerances.
* Diagnose faults and perform operational maintenance, overhauling and repairing mechanical parts and fluid power equipment.
* Cut, thread, bend, and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines.
* Provide daily feedback and reports on work progress, identifying delays and suggesting improvements to eliminate future issues.
* Supervise apprentices and contribute to a positive team environment, participating in Safety Tool Box Meetings and maintaining a safe workplace.
* Maintain flexibility in work hours, including providing shift cover and responding to after-hours breakdowns as needed.
* Commit to a Zero Harm safety philosophy, ensuring all mechanical work complies with safety standards and regulations.
