The opportunity We are looking for a Laboratory and Field Technician to provide operational support to the Hygiene NSW team based in Sydney. Reporting to the Regional Manager, the successful candidate will have a keen attention to detail, a strong foundation in scientific principles, and the ability to follow complex protocols and procedures.
Key responsibilities of the position include the following: Receive and process Occupational Hygiene and Environmental samples from internal and external customers. Conduct laboratory tests under the direction of laboratory analysts or managers, following NATA accreditation standards. Record and maintain all sampling, analysis, and receipt data in the RED OHMS Group Laboratory Information Management Systems. Ensure traceability and reliability of all sample data. Maintain equipment and perform calibrations according to the service and calibration schedule. Participate in proficiency testing schemes and maintain satisfactory scores. Perform internal quality control testing to ensure precision and accuracy of samples. Produce analytical reports and certificates and deliver findings to clients within required timeframes. Liaise with clients to ensure project goals, timelines, and budgets are met. Write technical reports and provide performance reports within stipulated timeframes. Conduct on-site sampling following relevant standards (AS/NZ/OSHA) and health & safety regulations, in line with NATA accreditation scope. You will bring: Proven experience in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory setting Diploma of laboratory technology (equivalent or higher) Cert IV in laboratory techniques (highly desirable) Cert III in laboratory skills (highly desirable) Expertise in bulk material analysis for asbestos identification Excellent communication skills and can relate to a diverse range of people Highly organised, tech-savvy, great at planning and managing work activities Ability to actively engage and contribute to a dynamic team environment Full open drivers' licence with flexibility to travel to clients' sites as needed What we offer: The chance to shape and influence a supportive workplace culture in a rapidly growing organisation.
