PostgreSQL Database Administrator
Location: Melbourne / Sydney – Remote Options Available
Duration: 12-Month Contract

The Role We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to provide business-as-usual (BAU) support, performance tuning, and ongoing maintenance of PostgreSQL environments with a strong focus on Crunchy PostgreSQL. You'll play a key role in ensuring high availability, security, and performance of databases, while collaborating with engineering teams to support feature delivery and drive automation initiatives.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver day-to-day PostgreSQL support across multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Manage and optimize PostgreSQL databases to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
- Implement and maintain high availability, clustering, and replication solutions using Patroni.
- Perform reliable backup and recovery operations using pgBackRest.
- Diagnose and resolve database performance issues.
- Ensure disaster recovery readiness and adherence to security and compliance standards.
- Work closely with automation engineers to support Ansible-based deployment and configuration workflows.
What You’ll Bring
- Extensive hands-on experience in PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, and issue resolution.
- Proven expertise with Crunchy PostgreSQL and Patroni clustering.
- Proficient in pgBackRest for backup and recovery.
- Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, replication strategies, and HA configurations.
- Solid Linux/Unix system administration background, including advanced Bash scripting.
- Experience operating in multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proficiency in monitoring and alerting for large-scale, mission-critical systems.
- Exposure to First-of-a-Kind (FOAK) solutions is a plus.
