Procurement Manager
The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading and managing the procurement function, ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and high-quality supply of materials, consumables, and subcontracted goods. This role involves overseeing purchasing, inventory control, supplier negotiations, and process improvement while aligning procurement activities with business goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Process Management
* Manage and mentor 2 direct reports within the Procurement Department.
* Establish and implement standardized procurement processes to deliver a high level of service to all business departments.
* Develop and maintain systems for continuous review of products and pricing to support business growth.
* Develop KPIs and performance scorecards for the Procurement Department to monitor and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
* Liaise with senior team managers to ensure procurement strategies are aligned with overall business goals.
2. Procurement
* Oversee the purchasing of coils, indent orders, consumables, subcontracted services, and buy-in stock.
* Liaise with and update Warehouse and Sales Teams regarding purchase order ETAs.
* Investigate new products and initiate new item creation in coordination with IT.
* Negotiate with suppliers to secure best-value pricing and terms.
* Monitor purchase orders, supplier performance, and pricing updates.
* Manage subcontract tube purchase order conversions for split packs.
3. Inventory Management
* Organise and report on monthly coil stocktakes.
* Organise site stocktakes and provide reporting.
* Maintain selected items in Inventory Maintenance.
* Introduce new purchased item codes as required.
* Keep teams informed about stock on hand (SOH), shortages, and status updates (obsolete, redundant, slow-moving).
* Advise senior management on import coil status and opportunities.
4. Finance
* Maintain and distribute coil costing/rebate spreadsheets.
* Advise on monthly consumable coil stock on hand.
* Review and correct supplier invoice discrepancies.
* Raise requests for credit (RFC) for supplier overcharges.
* Update monthly branch coil pricing and communicate to relevant stakeholders.
* Handle branch coil inquiries, allocate coils, and respond promptly.
* Respond to sales inquiries for unit costings.
* Request Sales to initiate third-party sales order deliveries to branches.
6. Manufacturing & Warehousing Support
* Maintain and update the daily handover report.
* Review slit coil reorder reports and initiate slitline work orders.
* Oversee receipting of incoming coil transfers.
* Initiate sales order stock transfers from Kewdale as required.
Skills & Qualifications
* Proven experience in procurement management, preferably within manufacturing or industrial environments.
* Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams.
* Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
* Strong analytical skills for pricing, costing, and inventory data analysis.
* Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
* High attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and process-oriented mindset.
