About Us
Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.

About the role
As the Educator - Health Worker you will develop, facilitate and deliver skills-based training, to build the capability of staff to effectively deliver comprehensive quality primary health care service to achieve organisational objectives. The position involves planning, implementing, and reviewing learning and development processes and initiatives, including programs to support workforce development. The role is fulltime, and permanent.

This position is identified where, under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

* Experience in a similar position developing, delivering and evaluating training and education programs to achieve desired outcomes, ideally with a focus on primary health care.

* Experience in developing training plans for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

* Experience facilitating training needs analyses and developing appropriate strategies to address key skill gaps.

* Experience engaging employees participating in training and education and knowledge of adult learning styles.

* Experience using a Learning Management System.

* Knowledge of primary health care services, functions and practices.

* Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York.

* Must be willing to have the ability to travel in Cape York either by light aircraft or 4WD as required.

Mandatory requirements:

* Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or higher qualification relevant to clinical practice in a primary health care setting.

* Current Queensland Drivers Licence.

* Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement.

* Current AFP National Police Clearance or willing to obtain prior to commencement.
