Aboriginal Health Clinician - Working with Vulnerable Populations
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Aboriginal Senior Health Clinician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing therapeutic and casework services to adults and children who have been sexually assaulted, and their non-offending family members.
About the Role:
This role requires a high level understanding of the dynamics and effects of sexual assault and experience in best practice models for working with young people and adults who have experienced sexual abuse/trauma. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide quality services to patients/clients of NSW Health.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide therapeutic and casework services to adults and children who have been sexually assaulted, and their non-offending family members.
* Develop a deeper level of awareness and understanding of how to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people who may engage with these specific services.
* Maintain high-quality counselling and case management records in line with policy guidelines and directives.
* Valid unrestricted driver's license for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
Essential Requirements:
* Degree in Social Work, Psychology or other relevant counselling degree deemed appropriate by employer or completion of the ECAV pathway, with demonstrated cultural expertise.
* Demonstrated high-level understanding of the dynamics and effects of sexual assault and experience in best practice models for working with young people and adults who have experienced sexual abuse/trauma.
* Demonstrated ability to provide culturally responsive counselling services to individuals and their families.
* Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills in combination with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a small therapeutic team.
* Commitment to specialist and cultural supervision and professional education, if relevant to application, experience providing clinical supervision and leading education and teaching to staff and/or students.
