About the Opportunity
Our client - a federal government agency responsible for national measurement standards, regulatory oversight, and risk governance - is seeking an experienced Risk Analyst (EL1 equivalent) for a long-term hourly-rate contract.
This role is ideal for an experienced practitioner who can work with autonomy, lead complex risk initiatives, and deliver robust frameworks that strengthen governance and regulatory outcomes across a large technical and compliance-focused division.

The branch you will support is responsible for ensuring compliance with measurement legislation, overseeing licensed service providers, and monitoring the use of measuring instruments across a wide range of commercial environments.
It includes operational, program delivery, governance, digital, and policy functions.
The Role
Working under broad direction and reporting to a senior manager, the role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and embedding a comprehensive, agency-wide risk management framework for a key regulatory branch.
Key Responsibilities
Developing and implementing a single, coherent risk management framework covering all branch activities.
Reviewing and drafting risk-related policies, procedures, templates, and tools.
Managing and delivering risk and governance projects across multiple business units.
Collaborating with internal stakeholders, senior leaders, and whole-of-agency risk teams.
Presenting complex risk information in a clear, concise, and accessible manner.
Providing guidance and knowledge-sharing to uplift risk capability and maturity across the branch.
Supporting continuous improvement and ensuring alignment with government and industry best practice.
Key Capabilities
Proven experience designing and embedding risk frameworks within a government or regulatory environment.
Experience managing cross-branch or cross-agency projects.
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into practical documentation and advice.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build productive relationships.
Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to quickly understand legislative, operational, and policy contexts relevant to regulatory functions.
Mandatory Requirements
Ability to obtain and maintain a police check and baseline security clearance.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.
Project management experience or certification.
Experience with contemporary data analysis, reporting tools, or risk management systems.
Ability to interpret or rapidly acquire knowledge of relevant Acts, regulations, and compliance frameworks.
