About the role
We are looking for an ambitious Full Stack Senior Engineer who wants to make an impact at a mission-driven company. You are excited to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative team and take on a high level of responsibility across many projects.
FreeWill has a compensation policy that emphasizes fairness and transparency. When we make an offer, we provide multiple options so that employees can choose between packages that prioritize salary or stock options. The salary range for this role is $160,000-170,000.
Responsibilities
- Independently own the design and development of new features
- Drive technical initiatives that improve quality, efficiency, and sustainability for the team
- Work on a modern stack, including React, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS
- Interact closely with a diverse team across legal, growth, sales, design, and product
- Contribute to rapid iteration and experimentation in a 0 to 1 product phase, applying creative problem-solving to ambiguous challenges
- Explore and integrate AI/ML capabilities into products where they create meaningful value for users
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and share knowledge through code reviews, pair programming, 1-1 conversations, and team trainings
Technical Skills
- 5+ years building production systems for complex web applications
- Experience leading projects on teams with multiple engineers, a product manager, and designer
- B2B and/or B2B2C experience; fintech and/or estate planning a plus
- Early startup experience strongly preferred
- Proficient in web architecture including React, API design, and developer tooling
- Experience with TypeScript, Express, SQL, observability, performance optimization, CI, automated testing, and cloud infrastructure
- Exposure to AI/ML APIs, frameworks, or tools and interest in applying them creatively in production environments
- Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and building scrappy, scalable solutions
