The Role of Technical Officer
Job Description
* A key position is available for a Technical Officer, responsible for delivering high-quality technical services and leading frontline teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement comprehensive job plans, including scopes, estimates, proposals, schedules, QA/QC documentation, and methodologies.
* Oversee the preparation of tooling and personnel compliance documentation for site mobilisation (e.g., tooling lists, pre-start packs) and complete directly when required.
* Coordinate onsite teams (supervisors, trades, HSE) during project execution.
* Lead daily pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and safety discussions to ensure adherence to industry standards.
* Provide ongoing support to supervisors to guarantee maximum presence and focus at the job front.
* Apply technical expertise to assist teams conducting overhauls of OEM equipment.
* Interpret technical drawings and scopes; provide practical guidance to field teams.
* Identify and document non-conformances and corrective actions during execution.
* Ensure workmanship meets quality expectations and complies with relevant Australian Standards.
* Supervise and coordinate blue-collar field teams and external contractors.
* Support onboarding and competency verification of field crews.
* Mentor junior supervisors and technicians, promoting high standards in safety, quality, and technical execution.
* Identify and report variations or scope changes in real time.
* Assist with cost tracking, forecasting, and commercial controls.
* Maintain strong working relationships with client representatives, ensuring alignment on expectations and delivery.
* Contribute to project close-out reports, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives.
