The Role
We are seeking an experienced Practice Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our firm. This is a pivotal role that will suit a detail-oriented professional with excellent leadership, organisational, and process management skills. Working closely with the Partners, you will play a key role in driving efficiency, managing resources, and supporting a high-performing team of accountants and administrators.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and streamline practice operations, including workflow, resourcing, and compliance deadlines (ASIC, ATO, TPB, ACNC, etc)
- Support Partners with managing appropriate work in progress ("WIP") levels, evaluation of WIP, billings (including write ups and write offs for professional staff), practice growth initiatives
- Oversee billing cycles and debtors management
- Support Partners with managing lodgments including Income Tax Returns ("ITR"), Activity Statements (BAS/IAS), Fringe Benefits Tax Returns ("FBT")
- Manage HR functions – recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, and staff training
- Maintain and enhance practice management systems (Xero Practice Manager ("XPM"), Karbon, NowInfinity, Content Snare, etc)
- Implement and monitor internal policies, quality control, and risk management frameworks
- Act as a key point of contact for escalated client queries, ensuring exceptional client service
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Practice Manager (or Senior Administration Manager) in an accounting or professional services firm
- Strong understanding of business services and tax compliance requirements
- Familiarity with accounting practice software (XPM, Karbon, NowInfinity, etc.) highly regarded
- Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills
- Financial management experience, including budgeting, billing, and debtor control
- Ability to manage competing priorities and implement process improvements
- Previous accounting experience in Business Services & Tax desirable
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Xero Blue and Xero Green (Xero Tax)
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills, with high attention to detail
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
