**The Role**
Within the Logistics Management function, an APS4 Store Person is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve moderately complex inventory management work within an integrated workforce. The APS4 Store Person is responsible for equipping unit personnel with military and specialist technical equipment, as well as maintaining, storing, stocktaking and disposing of equipment and supplies. They are accountable to have a good understanding of, and compliance to, relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
An APS4 Store Person will be accountable for organising their workflow, making decisions within their defined parameters relating to area of responsibility and will seek guidance when required. They may exercise some discretion with respect to how legislation, procedures and guidelines are interpreted and applied to their work. They will provide administrative support that is informed and directed by their knowledge of the Logistics Management function. They may undertake some research and analysis activities.
The APS4 Store Person will be required to share information, monitor work practices, set work priorities and develop local procedures. They may supervise and provide leadership to a team, providing coaching and on-the-job training for newer and less experienced team members.
**About our Team**
The 1st Joint Public Affairs Unit (1 JPAU) provides the Australian Defence Force (ADF) a high-readiness military public affairs capability. Staffed by Public Affairs officers, videographers and photographers from the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force, 1 JPAU elements are ready to deploy anywhere in the world to promote Defence operations and activities. Unit members bring a wide range of experience from diverse military and civilian backgrounds.
Key functions of 1 JPAU are:
- Train and prepare military public affairs teams to deploy in support of Defence operations and activities
- Capture and disseminate Public Affairs product in support of broader strategic communication objectives
- Provide media education and training to ADF personnel
- Provide specialist advice to ADF commanders and staff.
- A hands-on, proactive attitude.
- Experience in a store and/or similar environment.
- Good communication skills.
- Passionate about corporate governance.
- Experience with stocktaking and disposal functions.
- Experience with facilitating procurement and provide advice regarding the ADF Procurement Framework.
- Experience or ability to action inventory management and warehousing tasks.
- Experience or ability to forecast and facilitate loans at unit-level, coordinating with stakeholders outside of the unit.
- Ability to provide advice to key ADF unit personnel on logistics functions and processes.
