About the Role:
Reporting directly to the Head of Information and Technology, you will lead the design, development, and optimisation of our data infrastructure. This role is pivotal in ensuring data governance, quality, and security standards are upheld while supporting analytics and reporting teams with clean, well-structured datasets.
Responsibilities
* Define and enforce data governance, quality, and security standards while ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations and internal policies.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions.
* Design and implement scalable data architectures aligned with business and technical requirements.
* Develop and maintain robust data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and delivery, including integration from various sources such as APIs, third-party platforms, and internal systems.
* Investigate AI opportunities and tune AI engines to better interpret data stores.
* Optimise database performance and storage strategies across cloud and on-prem environments.
* Support analytics and reporting teams with clean datasets for actionable insights.
* Design and develop complex analytics outputs on an ad hoc basis.
* Document data architecture, engineering workflows, and best practices.
Qualifications
* Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or similar field.
* Proven experience as a Data Engineer working with data warehousing/lakes, pipelines, and visualisation tools.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Fabric, SQL, and Power BI.
* Strong analytical problem-solving skills with excellent documentation abilities.
* Sound understanding of data modelling concepts.
* Familiarity with AI technologies related to data processes and analysis.
* Knowledge of DataOps methodologies such as Agile frameworks.
* Collaborative team player with strong communication skills (written and verbal).
* Organised, methodical approach with high attention to detail and time management skills.
