The Role
Our client is seeking a
Senior Legal Counsel
to join their dynamic team and provide strategic legal and commercial support across the business. This newly created role will work closely with senior management, project, and commercial teams, contributing to the success of major construction and development initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
* Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of construction, subcontract, consultancy, and commercial agreements.
* Providing strategic legal advice across project delivery, procurement, and risk management.
* Supporting dispute resolution and claims management activities as required.
* Advising on governance, compliance, and operational matters within the business.
* Partnering with senior leaders to influence key commercial and project decisions.
This role represents an exceptional opportunity for a proactive and commercially focused lawyer to play a key part in shaping the legal function of a leading construction group.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have
6–12 years' post-admission experience (PAE)
gained in a respected law firm and/or in-house role, with a strong grounding in
construction and commercial contracting
. Experience supporting building and development projects will be highly regarded.
Key attributes include:
* Demonstrated capability to draft, review, and negotiate construction and commercial contracts.
* Strong understanding of project delivery, contract strategy, and risk allocation.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
* A commercial and solutions-driven mindset, with the confidence to provide pragmatic advice.
* High attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
