Our client is one of Australia's leading independent reinforcing steel suppliers, located at Redbank. They have an long term career opportunity for an experienced Drawing line machine operator to join their day shift team. Seeking people with solid work history in similar role with good attitude, committed and willing to learn! Operate machines to shape and cut reinforcing bars and mesh Input job tags on machines to produce steel products Operate an overhead crane and forklift Promote and contribute to a safe workplace To be mechanically minded is a bonus! A drawing line machine operator is responsible for setting up and operating a machine to produce hard drawn wire commonly used in concrete reinforcement. This could be used in mesh or hard drawn wire coils used in such products as concrete pipes and pre cast concrete. The operator ensures the smooth operation of these machines, monitors the quality of the final products, and maintains high standards for diameter tolerance and surface finish. The operator interprets product recipes, selects the correct dies, and calibrates the machine for speed and pull force. They are responsible for the entire lifecycle of a production run, including setting up and adjusting drawing machines, installing and aligning drawing dies, feeding metal rods feed through the machine, monitoring machine performance, inspecting finished products, and performing routine maintenance. Hours of work from 9pm to 5am, $45 to $48/hr depending on experience and licences. Commence as casual with view to permanent transition after 6 months. Machine operators: load 4 tonne wire coils (12/16/20mm diameter) and steel reinforcing bar through machine (2-12m lengths) Need to be able to read a tape measure and enter info into machine computer. Crane operation: no licence required as under 10 tonnes, 2 weeks' training provided on site. IMPORTANT: All employees will be required to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug & alcohol screen prior to commencement.
