The Bureau is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Radar Engineering Lead to provide engineering support for the Bureau Radar, Wind Profiler and Ionosonde networks. This is a key position within the Operational Technology and Engineering (OTE) team, which forms part of the Observing Systems and Operations (OSO) Program. The role provides specialist advice and will lead the development and implementation of processes that will ensure systematic delivery of quality outcomes for observing infrastructure architecture and equipment.
Operational Technology and Engineering is made up of a diverse team of specialists and engineers responsible for engineering and technological solutions, incorporating level three support on a range of technologies spanning from radars to rainfall stations, drifting buoys to dedicated observations and satellites to ships at sea so as to meet business needs.
The Radar Engineering area focuses on systems engineering and maintenance support for operation of our radar network. The Radar team is responsible for Level 3 SME support, installation, commissioning, build and modification of: Radars, Wind Profilers and Ionosondes.
The role is to provide engineering services to:
- support legacy radar systems within the BOM network
- systems engineering for the development of network expansion and upgrades
- support the research and development of new technologies to develop the network to increase performance and reduce life-cycle costs
