A vacancy currently exists for the role of Supervisor – Primary Operations Crew D within the Copper Smelter. Reporting to the Superintendent – Primary Smelting Operations, you will be required to effectively coordinate and control the shift activities of the Copper Smelter operational assets, ensuring agreed targets are achieved in a manner consistent with our values whilst engaging and developing a team of front-line operations personnel. This is a residential position in Mount Isa, working a continuous shift roster – 2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off. Occasionally you may be required to be flexible in terms of work times and rosters.
This challenging and rewarding role will require you to:
Coordinate and manage operational safety, production and risk in a large and complex footprint including assets associated with Concentrate Feed Preparation as well as the Copper IsaSmelt and Rotary Holding FurnacesBuild and promote team work within your team, across the wider Smelter department and Queensland Metals businessDevelopment of skills and capability necessary for you and your team to recognise and control risks to drive a Safe, positive and productive cultureChallenge and manage variation to achieve safety and production targets and challenge KPIsMaintain high levels of pride in the workplace including particular focus on housekeeping standards
The successful applicant will have:
Have a sound knowledge of Smelting (IsaSmelt knowledge would be advantageous)Previous experience with supervising and leading teamsThe ability to lead by example and have a strong work ethicHave safety as a core value and the ability to hold others accountable to itA minimum of 4 years working in the Smelting and Mining industryTechnical knowledge and organisational skills will ensure you thrive in this fantastic opportunity for career progression
