About this role
The Electrical Leading Hand is responsible for assisting the Electrical Supervisor/s to provide day to day leadership to the electrical team and is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing the electrical and instrumentation systems and components at Paddington Operations and its surrounding work sites in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with all relevant statutory requirements and health and safety regulations. The Electrical leading hand assumes the authority, leadership, and statutory responsibilities of the site Electrical Supervisor in their absence.
Duties
* Undertake preventive maintenance inspections, equipment repairs, and associated component changes.
* Diagnosis and rectification of faults and plant / equipment breakdowns.
* Regular inspections of tooling, equipment, work areas, and plant to identify hazards, operational compliance, damage and defects.
* Carry out time and material estimations for planned tasks and enter associated work and parts orders.
* Relief coverage for the Electrical Supervisor, where required.
* Report any hazards, accidents, or injuries immediately to your Supervisor.
* Assist new employees and Contractors in the application of Company Policies and Procedures.
* Work in a manner that will not endanger yourself or any other person.
* Ensure maintenance activities are carried out to a high standard and in accordance with statutory requirements.
* Use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as provided and report any defective or damaged PPE.
* Comply with any lawful instructions given by a Supervisor or person of authority and respect all Company property.
* Ensure you hold the correct certificate of competency or relevant authorisation before carrying out any tasks that mandate such requirements.. No work shall be carried out unless you are trained, capable, and competent or under training supervision to safely perform the task.
* Maintain continuous improvement through contributing, promoting and openly considering suggestions from electrical team members and personnel.
* Provide training, supervision, and support to apprentices, where required.
* Maintain required licensed trade knowledge to ensure continued compliant and safe electrical work practices.
* Any other duties as required
Qualifications & Statutory Requirements:
* Relevant trade qualification
* Compliance with Electricity Licensing Legislation
* Compliance with Work Health and Safety Legislation
* Site appointment as Statutory Supervisor
* Site appointment as Electrical Supervisor
* Current unencumbered C Class Western Australian Drivers Licence (HR desirable)
* High Voltage Switching certification
* Current unencumbered C Class Western Australian Drivers Licence
* Senior First Aid (desirable)
* High Risk Work Licence Certifications:
o Forklift (desirable)
o Elevated Work Platform (desirable)
o Non-slewing crane (desirable)
Skills and Experience
WORK KNOWLEDGE:
* Minimum of 2 years mine site fixed plant electrical experience
* Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
* Minimum of 5 years post-apprenticeship electrical work experience
* Instrumentation experience (desirable)
* High Voltage Switching
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
* Mature team player with good communication skills.
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively using a 2 way radio.
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
* Able to speak, read and write legible
* English at an Australian Secondary School standard.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
• Previous Pronto (or similar) experience (desirable)
• Basic skills Microsoft Office Suite (desirable)
