SHAC is seeking a Tenancy Management Officer to join our Team.
SHAC’s temporary supported housing program houses families temporarily while we support them to find longer term housing. SHAC manages up to 30 houses for the purposes of temporary accommodation. You will be responsible for managing the tenancies and your case work colleagues will be responsible for supporting the clients to find longer term housing.
You will provide direct tenancy services to clients and assist our clients to sustain short and longer-term tenancies in line with residential tenancy legislation, SHAC policies and funding contract terms.
Responsibilities
The position includes:
* Engaging successfully with a wide range of people including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from other diverse cultures, people who have experienced homelessness and/or family and domestic violence.
* Initiating and managing all aspects of our short and longer term tenancies in compliance with Queensland's Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008 and other relevant legislation. This includes establishing tenancies, managing rents, managing repairs and maintenance, property inspections and exits.
* Supporting tenants to meet the terms of their lease agreement.
* Responding to tenant complaints in the first instance
* Making applications to QCAT- Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (on rare occasions)
* Compiling various regular tenancy related reports for the Department of Housing and SHAC
* Collaborating with colleagues and managers in the delivery of supported accommodation services, and the development of relevant strategic and operational plans.
* Holding a current Blue Card (Working with Children) is essential for this role.
About You
You are motivated to assist families at risk of homelessness to achieve a more secure future and you have experience in tenancy management. You have strong time management and organisational skills and you are a clear and respectful communicator.
