Your role:
As an Electrical Technician in the Army, you will gain skills in a wide range of technical areas. Your trade training is fully accredited with transferrable skills that will provide a trade qualification in the civilian community providing a broader scope for your future employment.
You’ll learn to maintain and repair military systems and machinery, power generation equipment, maintain refrigeration and air conditioning devices and all portable and non-portable electrical appliances.
Your Military duties include, but aren’t limited to:
* diagnosing, maintaining and repairing the Army's fleet of power generation equipment, commercial and domestic refrigeration, air conditioning equipment and various portable and non-portable electrical appliances
* working with specialist teams providing air conditioning and refrigeration assets to deployable elements such as field hospitals and providing advanced technical advice and support to automotive electrical and air conditioning systems.
* performing safety and technical inspections on low, medium and high-capacity generators, refrigeration and air conditioning systems and portable and non-portable electrical appliances

Location:
Following your initial military training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia. Initial postings are usually to large Combat Service Support Battalions (CSSB) located in Brisbane, Darwin, Adelaide and Townsville. Subsequent postings can be to various locations and units throughout Australia.
Salary:
In the Army you'll get paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $60,517 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training.
On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $95,741 per annum plus generous super.
Eligibility:
For this role, you must:
* Be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English, Maths, Science (with a Physics component)

* Be reasonably fit and healthy. Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare
