Are you ready to help shape Queensland’s clean energy future? We’re seeking a highly motivated Principal Planner to lead the assessment of renewable energy projects.

In this pivotal role, you’ll lead the assessment of applications for solar farms and wind farms in the State’s capacity as Assessment Manager. You’ll lead the development assessment of projects by using the State Development Assessment Provisions (SDAP), including State Codes 23 and 26, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver timely, high-quality planning outcomes that support the state’s clean energy transition. This role is central to ensuring that renewable energy developments meet rigorous environmental and planning standards while aligning with the State’s commitment to sustainability and regional growth.

This is a unique chance to influence the future of energy infrastructure in Queensland. You'll provide expert advice on planning policy, coordinate complex multi-agency assessments, and help shape the strategic direction of renewable energy development. If you're passionate about sustainability, planning excellence, and making a tangible impact on Queensland's energy landscape, we invite you to bring your expertise to this high-impact role.

About The Role

In addition to the standard responsibilities in the role description for the position, as a senior leader in the Renewables Assessments team you will:

- Lead complex assessments of large-scale renewable energy projects under the Planning Act 2016, Planning Regulation 2017 and the Planning (Social Impact and Community Benefit) and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2025.
- Apply and interpret State Development Assessment Provisions (SDAP) including State Code 23 (Wind Farm Development) and State Code 26 (Solar Farm Development).
- Engage with stakeholders including developers, local governments, First Nations communities, and the public to ensure transparent, inclusive planning outcomes.
- Provide strategic advice to government on planning policy, legislative reform, and best practices in renewable energy development.

What We're Looking For

- Proven experience in planning, environmental assessment, or infrastructure development—preferably in renewable energy.
- Strong understanding of Queensland's planning legislation and assessment frameworks.
- Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic policy environment.
- Qualifications in urban planning, environmental science, law, or a related field are desirable

Why Join Us?

- Be at the forefront of Queensland's clean energy transition.
- Influence policy and planning decisions that shape communities and the environment.
- Work in a collaborative, future-focused team committed to innovation and sustainability.
- Enjoy flexible work arrangements and professional development opportunities.
