Regulatory officer, rapid regulatory response unit

Adelaide
AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)
Posted: 4 February
Offer description

Do you value interesting and challenging work with a focus on public safety? Would you like to work in a flexible hybrid working model, in an organisation with a commitment to staff development? Becoming a Regulatory Advisor at Ahpra could be your next opportunity

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

Ahpra is committed to providing a culturally safe work environment that reflects the diversity of the communities in which we operate and serve.

Ahpra's Rapid Regulatory Response Unit (RRRU) is a newly established team working to bridge the gap between regulatory intelligence and response. The team focuses on gathering targeted information about emerging concerns to determine whether regulatory action is required. Where the concerns relate to individual practitioners, the RRRU works to identify the right practitioner and supporting evidence to inform our standard notifications (complaints) processes.

We're looking for a motivated Regulatory Officer to join this growing team. This role supports the assessment and management of
lower to moderate risk cases
relating to emerging regulatory issues. You'll be part of a collaborative national function working in a fast-paced and meaningful space.

About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Regulatory Advisor, you'll manage a caseload of matters under guidance and provide support across a range of regulatory response activities. This includes gathering and analysing information, identifying risk, applying relevant legislation, and preparing quality written advice and reports. You'll also contribute to process improvements and help implement strategies to strengthen our response to new issues as they arise.

About you

You're organised, curious and proactive. You're comfortable interpreting policy and legislation, managing sensitive information, and producing clear documentation. You work well with others and can juggle competing priorities with a level head. Experience in a regulatory, complaints or investigations environment will set you up well.

What you'll bring:

* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* A sound understanding of case management or regulatory processes
* Intelligence gathering abilities
* Experience working with legislation, policies or complex information
* Good judgement and analytical thinking
* An interest in proactive, preventative regulatory work
