The Lame Duck Bar

Welcome to The Lame Duck - a 70s pink fever dream nestled in the heart of Fitzroy. In just six short years, we've earned our place as one of Melbourne's top dancing institutions. Open Thursday to Saturday from 8pm to 4am, we bring the party to life with everything from wild karaoke nights to non-stop 70s and 80s disco.
- A venue where your leadership shines, your ideas matter, and your business smarts don't go unnoticed
- Genuine work-life balance - part-time, 4 days per week with rotational Friday nights off, plus a break over Christmas and New Year.
- No Insta posts, no hashtags, no chasing KPIs—just real venue management

About Us

We're all about creating unforgettable experiences—for both our guests and our team. At The Lame Duck, exceptional vibes, community spirit, and a passion for music and fun are at the core of everything we do.

Come join a venue where the glitter never settles, the beats never stop, and every night is a celebration.

The Role
We're on the lookout for a Co-Venue Manager to work alongside our existing Venue Manager in a supportive, dual-leadership role. You'll share responsibilities, support each other, and help continue building the culture that makes The Lame Duck shine.

This is a permanent part-time position (approx 30 hours) with flexibility—including the option for a regular Friday off and Christmas & New Years break. Sharing this role offers work life balance.

What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar hospitality management role
- Confident leadership, strong organisational skills, and a calm, solutions-focused mindset
- Solid understanding of bar operations and beer systems
- Hands-on, proactive, and ready to lead from the floor
- Open to current Bar Managers or Assistant Managers looking for the next step
- Passion for music, nightlife, and exceptional customer experience
- Experience with production and DJ equipment is advantageous, though not a requirement

Key Responsibilities:

- Champion a safe, friendly, and inclusive environment for both patrons and team members
- Oversee venue administration, including ordering, inventory, and system management
- Handle staff rostering, ensuring smooth operations across all shifts
- Maintain the presentation, functionality, and safety of the venue at all times
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company standards, including RSA, OH&S, and licensing
- No marketing or social media management required—your focus will be entirely on operations and people.
- No KPIs
