Job Description
The Yard Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the inspection of incoming vehicles at the assigned branch location. Responsibilities include vehicle check-in, digital imaging, vehicle clean-up and preservation, auction numbering/preparation, and responding to customer needs.
Responsibilities
* Perform vehicle check-in by recording and filing information on incoming vehicles assigned to the facility.
* Thoroughly clean vehicles to enhance their appearance and value at auction.
* Operate passenger vehicles safely to move vehicles around the facility and participate in drive-through auctions.
* Number, prepare, and set up vehicles for weekly/biweekly auction.
* Recover keys, license plates, and other objects from vehicles and store them appropriately.
* Assist visitors by providing guidance and directing them to the appropriate personnel.
* Perform basic forklift/loader operations.
* Adhere to all company policies, safety, and environmental procedures.
* Understand and follow safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural documents.
* Remain alert to hazards related to heavy equipment and vehicles.
* Meet key performance metrics, including daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
* Willingness to learn forklift operation (may not be required at all facilities).
* Interact effectively with customers and team members.
* Perform or assist with light vehicle maintenance.
* Perform activities involving stooping, bending, standing, and walking for reasonable periods.
* Work in various climates and conditions, indoors and outdoors.
* Possess general mechanical knowledge of vehicle makes and models.
* Work well as part of a team.
* Hold a valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles (may vary by facility).
* Apply security, maintenance, safety procedures to protect assets.
* Use personal protective equipment appropriately.
* Recognize and respond to unsafe situations to prevent accidents.
* Follow industry regulations related to hazardous materials handling.
* Support and mentor a team of accounting specialists in achieving department goals (non-people management role).
* Perform other tasks as assigned, subject to business needs.
Qualifications
* 2-3 years of related experience.
* Experience in equipment rental, construction, or related fields preferred.
* Forklift operating experience is a plus.
* Basic automotive repair skills.
* Proficiency with handheld PDA devices.
* Willingness to learn forklift operation.
* Effective interaction with customers and team members.
* Ability to perform light vehicle maintenance.
* Ability to perform activities involving stooping, bending, standing, and walking.
* Mechanical knowledge of various vehicle makes and models.
* Ability to work indoors and outdoors year-round, including climbing on large equipment.
