The Executive Director and Chief Procurement Officer leads the Department of Education's procurement and facilities management functions, ensuring alignment with whole-of-government frameworks and departmental priorities.

Reporting to the Assistant Director-General, Finance, Procurement and Facilities and Chief Finance Officer, the role provides strategic leadership across procurement, supply chain and facilities management, including ICT, general goods and services, and building, construction and maintenance categories, together with sustainability services.

The position exercises stewardship over significant financial activity and leads a senior team delivering customer-focused and sustainable outcomes that support education services across Queensland.

The Executive Director and Chief Procurement Officer leads the Department's procurement and facilities management functions within the Finance, Procurement and Facilities Branch. The role is responsible for the development and implementation of the Department's procurement strategy, aligned to whole-of-government approaches and designed to deliver sustainable and realisable benefits. The position also leads customer-focused facilities management and sustainability services that support departmental priorities and government objectives.

Reporting to the Assistant Director-General, Finance, Procurement and Facilities and Chief Finance Officer, the role exercises senior executive accountability across sector stewardship, portfolio priorities, business outcomes, financial management and people and culture. The position represents the Department in senior-level negotiations and cross-government forums and contributes to governance to uphold high standards of ethical and professional practice.

The role holds responsibility for the Department's procurement framework covering procurement and purchasing expenditure of approximately $2 to $3 billion, together with oversight of budgets within the Procurement and Facilities hierarchy of approximately $260 to $270 million. The Executive Director leads five direct reports across procurement services including ICT, general goods and services, and building, construction and maintenance categories, as well as systems, compliance, regional support and facilities management.

Key Responsibilities

* Leading strategic sourcing, procurement and supply chain management across the Department
* Overseeing supplier relationships and performance to support effective commercial outcomes
* Fostering strategic relationships with key internal and external partners and stakeholders within the department and across Queensland Government
* Delivering contemporary facilities management services for corporate and regional clients
* Coordinating sustainability initiatives and associated reporting in line with government policies, targets and commitments
* Providing high-level advice and briefings to the Assistant Director-General and other senior executives on procurement and facilities management strategy, policy, risk and consultation matters

Ideal Candidate

* A strong record of executive leadership within large and complex organisations
* Extensive experience across strategy development, policy implementation, service delivery and client service
* Sound judgement, high levels of integrity and the capacity to lead effectively in complex and changing environments
* Leadership capability aligned to the Leadership Competencies for Queensland, with demonstrated strengths across performance through accountability, vision and results
