ABOUT THE ROLE
Exciting opportunities available in our Australind Depot Workshop for experienced and skilled HV Mechanics and Boilermakers to join our dedicated and close knit mechanical team, working Monday to Friday for approximately 10 hours per day, with occasional on-call duties outside of regular hours.
Scope includes the maintenance, repair and fabrication of trucks, trailers and related equipment.
Suitable applicants will have proven experience in a similar role and able to commit to working within a fast paced close knit team environment, they will be able think on their feet, have a flexible approach, a great work ethic, good problems solving skills, hold a high regard for safety and be an effective communicator.
DUTIES:
HV MECHANIC
* Conduct routine maintenance, including A, B & C services of Prime Movers, Triple, Quad, Super, Ultra and Mega Trailer Combinations, including but not limited to oil changes, lubrication's and engine health checks.
* Dismantling, removing and reassembling engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, as well as checking parts and ensuring all coupling components are checked and signed off by the Workshop Supervisor.
* Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines.
Conduct mechanical repairs on reported defects or worn parts by the initial use of available stock in a timely and cost-effective manner.
* Testing and adjusting of mechanical parts after being repaired for optimum performance.
* Respond and attend heavy vehicle breakdown service calls to conduct mechanical repairs.
* Conduct routine roadworthy inspections every six (6) months to ensure compliance with Main Roads requirements.
BOILERMAKER
* Fabricate metal parts and structures using various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, stick welding).
* Build and repair metal components such as truck bodies, trailers, frames, and other structures.
* Assemble manufactured parts into final products or larger structures.
* Ensure that all parts are assembled correctly and securely.
* Repair damaged metal components and structures on trucks, including frames and bodies.
* Reinforce and modify truck bodies to improve their durability and functionality.
* Inspect finished products to ensure they meet safety and quality standards.
* Test welded joints and metal structures for strength and durability.
ALL
* Ensure paperwork, including servicing, defect repairs, job hazard analysis, and are comprehensively completed and submitted to the Workshop Supervisor.
* Ensure all paperwork is completed comprehensively and is compliant with relevant policies and procedures
* Ensure all equipment roadworthy inspections are compliant before releasing into operations.
* Ensure isolation and tag-out policy and procedure are adhered to at all times
* Maintain safe working conditions of all workshop equipment and ensure reporting and tag-out of any unsafe equipment occurs.
* Ensure safe working practices are implemented into daily tasks. All hazards and incidents are reported within required timeframes in accordance with Agspreads Incident Reporting Procedure.
* Comprehensive completion of Incident reports as per company guidelines. Implementation of preventative actions as outlined in a completed incident report.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar capacity
* Cert III Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent) - Mechanic
* Cert III Metal Fabrication (or equivalent) - Boilermakers
* Current C Class drivers Licence (MC Licence an advantage)
* High Risk Licence LF (Desirable)
* Display a positive attitude and outlook within the workplace.
