Chief Executive Officer - English Teachers’ Association of NSW (ETA NSW)
Are you an experienced English educator looking for the chance to make a real impact in the English teaching sector, outside of the classroom walls?
The English Teachers’ Association of NSW (ETA NSW) is a professional association of teachers committed to stimulating and elevating the teaching and language profession across Australia. The CEO role offers the opportunity to take on a leadership position to support teachers on the ground and to advocate for the English teaching profession, at policy and Government level.
Working in close collaboration with the Board, the CEO position will involve strategic planning and implementation, strong stakeholder management and policy development, in addition to oversight of the business and operational functions of the association.
Key Responsibilities
* Vision, Mission, and Strategy: Uphold the association’s vision and mission, contribute to strategic planning, and report progress to the Board
* People Leadership: Provide high levels of leadership, coaching and support to the team through a culture-focused approach, to ensure staff satisfaction, retention, productivity and performance
* Policy and Governance: Ensure governance and legal compliance are upheld through the development and maintenance of effective systems
* Finance and Resource Management: Develop and monitor budget, produce financial reports, oversee audit processes, and review income streams
* Stakeholder Engagement: Monitor, maintain and enhance stakeholder relationships, contribute to national policy and advocacy activities, and encourage cooperation between state divisions
* Operational Management: Oversee service delivery, recommend industry support, and maintain communication channels to members.
Essential knowledge and competencies
* An experienced English educator, with a strong understanding of the Australian education system
* Demonstrated knowledge of teacher accreditation and NESA accredited professional development
* First-class leadership skills, with the desire to lead a membership association
* Demonstrated knowledge and ability with using technology in a pedagogical setting, utilising software, applications, and online learning platforms to improve systems and processes
* Experience of working closely with a Board to lead operational management
* Ability to communicate effectively, conveying complex information through various communication channels, including newsletters and other professional correspondence
* Outstanding stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate change and provide strategic leadership where necessary.
Preferred skills
* A tertiary qualification or experience in management, business, or public administration
* Strong business acumen, with an interest in marketing and social media
* Experience and desire to run successful events with the support of a dedicated inhouse team of planners.
