About the Role
This is a critical position within our IT operations team that requires an experienced senior database administrator to manage production and non-production databases.
The ideal candidate will have expert-level experience with SQL Server and T-SQL, as well as a passion for automation and a strong desire to work as a team.
You will be responsible for building, configuring, and optimizing SQL Server database engines in various environments, partnering with engineering teams on software enhancements, and working with operations teams to maintain high uptime and performance.
This role involves operating and maintaining SQL Server databases in production and non-production environments, providing expert-level support and troubleshooting, designing and maintaining reports and scripts, participating in the engineering/design process, and ensuring platform security.
In addition, you will participate in an on-call rotation for major incidents and issues, requiring occasional off-hours work.
* Design, build, and maintain reports and scripts to meet customer and colleague needs
* Participate in the engineering/design process to enhance functionality and deliver new features
* Partner with security and risk management teams to ensure highest level of platform security
Requirements
* Senior-level expert-level experience with SQL Server and T-SQL
* Familiarity with Agile concepts like CI/CD and their application to database design
* Passion for automation, including familiarity with tools like Ansible, Jenkins, and Octopus
* Excellent communication skills and strong desire to work as a team
* Meticulous attention to detail and relentless focus on continuous improvement
* Fanatical about backups, data integrity, business continuity, and risk management
* 5+ years of professional experience managing SQL Server databases in highly available, fast-paced environment – payment industry experience a plus
