About the organisation
The CER is a non-corporate Commonwealth entity and statutory agency established under the Clean Energy Regulator Act ****.
The CER administers legislated climate and energy schemes and provides regulatory oversight, reporting and market analysis to support Australia's emissions reduction objectives.
About the role
The Chief Executive Officer is a statutory office holder who reports to the Minister for Climate Change and Energy and serves as Chair of the CER Regulator Board.
The CEO leads the organisation, oversees day-to-day administration, and ensures the CER delivers its legislative functions with integrity, rigour and transparency.
Key responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Clean Energy Regulator
Chair the Regulator Board and support sound governance and decision-making
Ensure effective administration of legislated climate and energy schemes
Engage constructively with government, industry, communities and stakeholders
Lead organisational capability, culture and performance
About you
You will bring:
Senior leadership experience in a complex public, regulatory or policy environment
Strong judgement, integrity and governance capability
Substantial experience or knowledge in at least one field relevant to the CER
Experience in climate change, energy, regulation or public administration (highly desirable)
Eligibility requirements
Australian citizenship (with limited exceptions)
Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 2 security clearance
Compliance with statutory requirements regarding outside employment
