About the role
SA Pharmacy is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Allied Health Assistants (AHA1 / AHA2) to support the delivery of high-quality pharmacy services across our network. In this hands-on role, you will assist in the dispensing and distribution of medications, perform stock control duties, support inventory management, and may be involved in the manufacture or packaging of pharmaceuticals. You'll also play an important part in administrative tasks such as reception and cashier functions for both inpatient and outpatient services.
This is a developmental role, with the classification (AHA1 or AHA2) determined by your qualifications, skills, and experience. AHA1 positions are ideal for individuals looking to begin a career in pharmacy support, with opportunities for progression to AHA2 upon successful completion of a relevant Certificate III or after six months of continuous employment. AHA2 team members take on additional responsibilities including technical training of staff and assisting in the coordination of daily workloads. Whichever level you start at, you'll be part of a supportive, fast-paced team committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
About You
You're a motivated and reliable team player with a strong interest in pharmacy services and a commitment to supporting safe, accurate, and patient-focused care. To thrive in this role, you will have :
A willingness to learn and develop new skills under supervision, with sound communication, arithmetic, and organisational abilities
Proven experience in a hospital pharmacy setting, with proficiency in pharmacy management software and understanding of dispensing and manufacturing practices
Strong technical and manual dexterity, including accurate data entry, the ability to lift and move stock, and work safely using documented procedures
Knowledge of pharmaceutical products, medical terminology, the PBS, and a clear understanding of confidentiality, ethical practice, and the role of Pharmacy Assistants within SA Pharmacy
