We encourage people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and people with disability to apply.About the roleThe House Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of several residences around Brisbane. This is a hands-on role with most time spent on site in the home or in the community.The House Manager will guide and coach a team of youth workers in applying the CARE model principles to interactions with young people in residential care, with high and complex needs.They will strive to enhance the lives of young people in the residential setting, incorporating a therapeutic, trauma informed approach within the daily structure and purposeful programming.There is a strong emphasis on leading your team to provide a secure base for our young people within the home, liaising with culturally appropriate services, and providing opportunities for the young people to connect with the culture in which they identify within.This position is being offered aspermanent, full-time. A TOT vehicle including a fuel card will be allocated to the successful applicant.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild professional, trusting relationships with children and young people through visible interest and active engagement.Ensure the home is a place that is emotionally and physically safe, nurturing, and appropriately engaging and stimulating, to foster growth and resilience.Assist with the development and implementation of the Departmental Case Plan (where applicable) and develop and implement the LWB Case/Care plan that drives day to day service delivery.Manage, support and provide reflective supervision and team meetings to a team of residential workers, and lead staff to work as a team in the best interests of children and young people.Support staff to apply the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention system (TCI) to prevent, de-escalate and respond to crisis incidents involving children and young people.Undertake rostering of residential workers ensuring that risks are managed and staffing levels reflect the needs of children and young people living in the home.Coordinate the intake and transition of new children and young people into the home and the exit of children and young people to permanent homes or step-down services.Ensure the CIRTS database is up to date with all client information.Skills & ExperienceHold or actively working toward a Certificate IV in Child, Youth or Family Interventions (Residential and OOHC) or other recognised Certificate IV or higherExperience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma and disadvantage.Experience in the co-ordination and management of 24-hour residential services for vulnerable people.Demonstrated experience in managing and leading a teamDemonstrated capacity to manage crises and critical issues and deal with complex and challenging situations.Current Unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence.Current First Aid and CPR CertificatesComplete Hope and Healing Framework Foundations prior to starting (we will enrol in this if successful).Excellent written and oral communication skills including strong interpersonal skills, use of Microsoft Office packages.Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).Monthly RDOTOT Vehicle and fuel cardPermanentFull Time Position withongoing support and trainingOpportunity to work for one of Australia's largest social purpose organisationsAn attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful applicant, including a mobile phone and laptopAccess to salary packaging through MaxxiaHow to ApplyInclude your resume and covering letter in one document, click 'Apply' and follow the prompts.
