SQL Database Administrator – Federal Government | Canberra Onsite | NV1
Contract: 12 months + extensions
Location: Canberra, ACT (onsite, 5 days a week)

I'm looking for a skilled SQL Database Administrator to join a major Federal Government agency's data team here in Canberra. If you enjoy solving tricky database issues, working across modern tech stacks, and being part of a team that's moving toward the cloud, you will really enjoy this one.
About the Role
You will be working across on‑prem, hybrid, and cloud SQL environments (Azure/AWS), looking after performance tuning, replication, security, disaster recovery, and supporting reporting tools like SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, and Power BI.
If you are someone who likes jumping in, fixing problems, and making systems run smoother, this will be right up your alley.
Day‑to‑Day You will Be:
Managing and tuning Microsoft SQL Server environments
Handling indexing, replication, and general troubleshooting
Building and maintaining clustering, automated backups, and DR plans
Overseeing database security, certificates, and access
Supporting BI/reporting toolsets
Working across hybrid and cloud platforms
What You Bring
5+ years' experience as a SQL DBA
Experience with Always‑On, Replication, Azure/AWS SQL
Strong SQL/T‑SQL and PowerShell
Comfortable solving complex problems and working with others
Nice to have: Azure DevOps, Git, SQL development experience
