About The Role
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Officer will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll for our workforce. The role based in our office in Maroochydore requires strong attention to detail, and experience working in a fast-paced construction or labour-intensive environment.
Responsibilities
* Process weekly payroll accurately and on time for salaried and waged employees
* Interpret and apply relevant Awards, Enterprise Agreements, and employment contracts
* Ensure correct calculation of overtime, allowances, penalties, leave, and deductions
* Maintain employee payroll records and manage onboarding and offboarding payroll processes
* Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation, including PAYG, Superannuation, and Fair Work requirements
* Prepare and reconcile payroll reports and payroll-related general ledger accounts
* Respond to payroll queries from employees and management in a timely and professional manner
* Manage payroll-related statutory reporting, including STP (Single Touch Payroll)
* Work closely with the Finance and HR departments to ensure payroll data accuracy
* Assist with payroll audits and end-of-year processing as required
About You
* At least 5 years+ experience in a Payroll Officer or similar role
* Proven skills and knowledge to understand and interpret awards and collective agreements
* Strong knowledge of Fair Work requirements
* Experience processing weekly payroll for a medium to large workforce
* Proven skills in the effective use of information technology, records and systems maintenance
* ERP payroll system and solid excel skills - Vista experience would be highly regarded
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
* Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
