Josiah is a multi‑denominational Christian school in Carrara, Gold Coast, that nurtures, inspires and enables students to flourish. Our Autism‑friendly setting provides the framework for students on the Autism Spectrum to access the Australian Curriculum with unique support and individualised learning programs. Our Josiah Compass guides and informs all areas of our practice to underpin our values and our pastoral care. We strive to provide the opportunity for social, educational and vocational pathways for students on the Autism Spectrum. The learning for these students will be delivered primarily in a specialist setting on campus, with the opportunity to access the community and vocational training centres over the course of the senior years. Senior students work towards achieving a QCE upon graduation.

Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, maintain accurate records, handle correspondence, and support the day‑to‑day operations of a busy school office.
- Ability to communicate effectively and warmly with students, staff, parents, and visitors, reflecting professionalism, empathy, and the school’s Christian ethos.
- Experience or aptitude in supporting children, including administering medication, providing basic first aid, and assisting with student services, while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
- Statement of the ways you might see Christianity being incorporated into daily routines and experiences.

Position Description
Position Purpose and Overview
The Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in the smooth and welcoming operation of the school. This position supports students, staff, and families by managing reception duties, providing administrative assistance, maintaining supplies, and contributing to the daily rhythm of school life. The role requires professionalism, warmth, attention to detail, and a genuine care for the wellbeing of students.
Accountability & Reporting Lines
This position reports directly to Head of Josiah College.
Occupational Requirements & Qualifications
- Have previous experience in an administrative or reception role, preferably in a school or special education setting.
- Have a blue card (Working with Children Check), or the ability to obtain one.
- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR
- Certificate level qualifications in Administration or similar.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reception and Administration
- Provide a warm, professional welcome to students, families, and visitors.
- Answer incoming calls and direct enquiries appropriately.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and general correspondence.
- Maintain accurate student and staff records and upload documents to relevant systems.
- Support the day‑to‑day administrative needs of the school office and leadership team.
Student Services
- Administer medication in accordance with school policy and student care plans.
- Provide basic first aid and maintain accurate incident and treatment records.
- Monitor and record student attendance and absences.
- Support student wellbeing by responding calmly and compassionately to needs that arise during the day.
Operational Support
- Manage stationery, kitchen, and other consumable supplies, including ordering and stock control.
- Coordinate Book Club orders and communication with families.
- Assist with tuckshop operations and rosters.
- Liaise with Building, Maintenance and Repairs (BMR) and IT Services (ITS) for facilities or technical issues.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for school events, excursions, and assemblies.
- Participate in emergency procedures and assist with fire drills, lockdowns, and other safety processes.
Community and Faith
- Uphold the Christian ethos of the school in all interactions.
- Foster a welcoming and respectful environment that reflects the school’s values.
- Support and participate in school events, chapel services, and community activities as required.
