Registered Nurse - AOD Residential Role
This role provides clinical nursing care, withdrawal management, and health education for residents undergoing treatment for problematic substance use in a residential setting.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor and manage AOD withdrawal symptoms and related care plans
* Administer medication and liaise with pharmacists and GPs
* Conduct AOD and health assessments, referrals, and education
* Support Opioid Assisted Therapy (OAT) stabilisation and harm minimisation
* Supervise and mentor Enrolled Nurses within their scope of practice
* Provide psychoeducation and evidence-based interventions
* Contribute to care planning, discharge planning, and clinical documentation
* Facilitate health-related group sessions and promote wellbeing
* Maintain clinical safety, infection control, stock levels, and medical records
* Participate in quality improvement, audits, and clinical supervision
* Liaise with external services and support court advocacy when required
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
* Strong clinical skills in AOD, mental health, and medical care
* Experience in residential or withdrawal settings preferred
* Understanding of therapeutic community models and trauma-informed care
* Excellent communication, assessment, and documentation skills
* Ability to work collaboratively and manage complex client needs
